One of the primary objectives of the Quad is to work for a free, open, prosperous, and inclusive Indo-Pacific region.
The first meeting of this group was held on the sidelines of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in 2007. It is considered a coalition of maritime democracies, and the forum is maintained by meetings of all member states, semi-regular summits, exchange of information, and military exercises.
