- कर्क संक्रांति के दिन प्रातः ब्रह्म मुहूर्त में उठकर स्नान व ध्यान करने के उपरांत व्रत का संकल्प ग्रहण करें।
- यदि संभव हो तो इस दिन किसी पवित्र नदी, तलाब या जल कुंड में स्नान करें अन्यथा जल में गंगाजल डालकर स्नान करें।
- स्नान आदि से निवृत होने के पश्चात सूर्योदय के समय पूर्व दिशा की ओर सूर्य देव को अर्घ्य अर्पित करें।
- अर्घ्य हेतु एक तांबे के लोटे में शुद्ध जल लें और उसमें तिल व गुड़हल का पुष्प मिलाकर सूर्यदेव को अर्पित करें।
- अब आदित्य हृदय स्तोत्र, सूर्य चालीसा और सूर्य मंत्रों का यथाशक्ति जप करें।
- इस दिन सूर्य देव के साथ भगवान शिव और भगवान विष्णु की पूजा का भी विशेष महत्व है अतः आप इन दोनों देवों का भी श्रद्धा अनुसार पूजन करें।
- पूजन सम्पन्न होने पर किसी सुपात्र को सामर्थ्य अनुसार दान करें।
